Moving? Transfer or cancel your Planet Fitness membership

Transfer online: the 5 conditions

Planet Fitness says you can transfer your membership online “with just a few clicks” if all of these are true:

1. You are not a minor.
2. You have been a Planet Fitness member for at least 90 days.
3. You haven't transferred your membership in the past 90 days.
4. You don't owe any outstanding dues or fees at your current club, have a financial cosigner, or a third-party subsidized membership.
5. Your membership is billed monthly, not Paid in Full.

Not eligible? Planet Fitness says to contact your home club for help. Transfers are done in the member portal at planetfitness.com/login, “your one stop for all your membership needs such as changing clubs, billing, upgrades and more”.

Planet Fitness's transfer policy

• Membership must be at least three months old and in good standing (no arrears).
• Prepay memberships are non-transferrable.
• Monthly memberships are non-transferrable from one individual to another.
• The transfer must occur between clubs in the same country.
• A transfer fee may apply.

A PF Black Card already lets you work out at any Planet Fitness; your home club, where you cancel, stays the club where you joined until you transfer.

Cancel instead, from wherever you live now

You do not need to go back. Mail a signed letter to your current home club (free template) or use the member portal where your club offers it, at least 7 days before your next billing date. A $58 buyout applies only if you end a minimum term early; see the cancellation fee.

Illinois: 815 ILCS 645/6 lets you cancel after a move of more than 25 miles when no club within 25 miles of your new home takes over the contract, by certified or registered mail to the address in the contract, online if you joined online, or by email if the contract lists one.
