> How to cancel a Planet Fitness membership: the three official ways (a letter mailed to your home club, in person at your home club, the online member portal), the 7-day notice rule, the $49 annual fee, the $58 buyout and state gym-cancellation laws. Checked against planetfitness.com on November 8, 2026.

Planet Fitness lists three ways to cancel: written notice mailed to your home club, a visit to your home club, or the member portal on planetfitness.com. Cancel at least 7 days before your next billing date to stop that charge, and at least 7 days before the annual fee date to stop the $49 annual fee. A $58 buyout applies only if your membership has a minimum term and you leave before it ends. Online cancellation is not guaranteed at every club: Planet Fitness says some policies vary by location. Every page links a mailed-for-you option (Postbye, $23.99 once): "We mail yours by certified mail and send you the proof of delivery."
