# Cancel Planet Fitness by email

**Email is not one of the ways Planet Fitness lists to cancel a US membership, and it publishes no cancellation email address.** Use a letter mailed to your home club, a visit there, or the online member portal, at least 7 days before your next billing date.

## When state law allows email notice

-   **California:** a new gym contract can be cancelled before midnight of the fifth business day of the health studio after the agreement date, by first-class mail, in person, or by email from an address on file with the club (Civil Code § 1812.85).
-   **New York:** a health club contract may be cancelled within three business days after you receive a copy, with notice by US mail or by email to the address in the contract (General Business Law § 624).
-   **Illinois:** notice of a cancellation the Physical Fitness Services Act allows (within 3 business days, or after death, disability or a move of over 25 miles) can go by email if the contract lists an email address (815 ILCS 645/6).
